This fantasy layout represents a typical early 20th century village. It includes replicas of Western New York landmarks which are still standing as well as some which have been torn down. The trains are replicas of
those that ran in the early 1900s when Buffalo was a major rail center. The controls for the train are Digitrax
"Chief" Digital Command Control System (DCC). This allows for operation of over 30 trains at different speeds and directions at the same time-- even on the same track!. The Rail Barons, a group of volunteers, conceived,
built and operate this exhibit. Work began in 1990 and is ongoing. Support for this project is provided by generous contributions and the combined efforts of the Historical Society and The Rail Barons. Additions are made each
year in preparation for public viewing during the winter holiday season. Volunteers are always welcome. |
